ACHILLES TENDON INJURIES (ANKLE INJURY)
It is a common injury usually occur in 30 - 50 years due to sports, domestic injuries(Missed step, slip and fall in wash room)
CAUSES - TRAUMA (MC)
Other - Long term steroids and diabetics
Treatment:
Surgery is the treatment of choice in complete tears, Acute and Chronic injuries.
Traditional method provide strong repair with high incidence of soft tissue complications, with more re-rupture rate and need to be on rest and need to be immobilised for 4 - 6 weeks and get back to work in 3 - 6 months with increased morbidity rate.
MINIMALLY INVASIVE SPEED BRIDGE TECHNIQUE
With this technique, patient can get back to activities in 3 - 6 weeks and avoids immobilisation for
prolonged period, with low risk of soft tissue complications and less trauma.
